The through disobedience and through rebellion” by Irish

The observed quote “Disobedience, in the eyes of anyone who has read history, is man’s original virtue. It is through disobedience that progress has been made, through disobedience and through rebellion” by Irish author Oscar had made some important bold and valuable statements about disobedience. Disobedience can be valued and sought as a good and bad thing.

Ideally, disobedience can bring the angel or the evil out of someone. For instance, Many significant people in history were disobedient. Disobedience and rebellion are mainly identified as important elements for the process of change. There have been multiple occasions of the act of disobedience and rebellion in the past by many historical people. Some historical people include Martin Luther King Jr, Harriet Tubman, and Rosa Parks. These people created major events in history that changed the social aspect of the world and the world as a whole; those effects are still being argued and faced today. These remarkable people stood up for what they believed in to impact other people’s lives for the better. Within the quote Wilde explained that disobedience is not necessarily a bad trait to have, however it is the reasoning that disobedience creates progress. Rosa Parks stood up for herself and the other African Americans during her time, and for those in the future who struggle with racism and discrimination. Parks had been known for being disobedient but not towards the authorities. This is because she was the one doing something wrong, however the authorities were the ones who were wrong by the way they supported discrimination and arrested her for standing up for African Americans rights. Parks wanted to make valid statement by sitting in the front of the bus, in order to ensure that all humans deserve the right to equal rights no matter the color of their skin.

Parks helped change the laws between African Americans and whites by granting African Americans the same privilege as whites. Without her rebellion and disobedience, the laws that once existed might not have changed. Disobedience and rebellion acts upon how one perceives it.

Disobedience and rebellion individualizes people amongst their unrecognized strengths which can change lives, just like in these following examples.Martin Luther King Jr. had been the leader of a nonviolent Civil Rights Movement from the 1950s and 1960s. King pushed the country to gain people’s trust in hope for freedom. Kings persistence in the movement began during the bus boycotts that took place in 1955 and had been ended by the assassin James Earl Ray in 1968. After the bus boycott, King formed the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, which had been dedicated to gaining the rights for African Americans.

With Kings rebellion that he acted upon, he stood up for what he believed in and had succeeded. This event supports Wilde’s quote that rebellion and disobedience creates progress. Harriet Tubman had committed the characteristics of being disobedient and rebellious by leading the slaves through secret tunnels to give them freedom.

Harriet Tubman was an American abolitionist, humanitarian, an armed scout, and a spy for the United States Army during the American Civil War.  Tubman became a famous leader for the Underground Railroad during the 1850s.Tubman had been born a slave on Maryland’s eastern shore where she experienced brutal beatings. In 1849 she fled slavery, leaving her husband and family behind in order to escape. Tubman returned to the South at least 19 times to lead her family and hundreds of other slaves to freedom through the Underground Railroad. This showed Tubman’s disobedience towards her slave owners and how rebellious she had been by taking the risk of a rebellious individual to free innocent people. Tubman also had been known for serving as a scout, a spy, and a nurse during the Civil War.

After these historical individuals who used disobedience and rebellion to endure their desires, they have proved Wilde’s quote. However, these are not the only examples of historical figures that had made an impact on the world, but these are a few that proves Wilde’s quote. I agree with Wilde completely and I think that he is a wise man that has a lot of respect for these historical figures. I can conclude that “Disobedience, in the eyes of anyone who has read history, is man’s original virtue. It is through disobedience that progress has been made, through disobedience and through rebellion” is a valued quote that should be taken seriously.
