The beautiful Hallyeohaesang National Park is located in Idong-myeon, Namhae-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do, South Korea, in the Gyeongsang province. The latitude of this park is 34.758529. The longitude is 127.975978. The area of the park sits at 210.7mi². Hallyeohaesang has an elevation of 466.81 Meters (1531.54 Feet). This park has a warm oceanic climate to it, ranging from 70 degrees Fahrenheit to 90 degrees Fahrenheit. The hottest months are June and July, whereas the coldest months are December and January. Hallyeohaesang National Park is certified as a category 2 Protected Area under the UN List of protected areas. Hallyeohaesang National Park was discovered in 1968 along the shoreline from Geoje in Gyeongsangnam-do province to Yeosu in Jeollanam-do province. It became a national park on December 31, 1968. Hallyeohaesang is just one of the four national parks in Korea that are widely known and visited. It comprises six districts: Sangju-Geumsan Mt. district, Namhaedaegyo district, Sacheon district, Tongyeong-Hansan district, Geoje-Haegeumgang district and Yeosu-Odongdo district. The total area is 545.63 km2 (210.67 sq mi) with 395.49 km2 (152.70 sq mi) being marine area and 150.14 km2 (57.97 sq mi) being land area. The type of geological formations present in Hallyeohaesang National Park are very rocky and forestry. The area is surrounded by water, making is a marine ecosystem, but it has a lot of other geological attributes to it. There is more of a sedimentary rocks around the area and is formed by them. Of course, there are hints of metamorphic and igneous rocks, but sedimentary is the main rock in this land. There are many types of plant species in this park. There is said to be about 1142 species of plants. Some of these plants include Red Pine, Cork Oak, Common Camellia, Black Pine, and Serrata Oak. There are also rare species, including the Nadopungnan, Daeheongnan, and the Korean winter hazel. There are many animal species living in this park. Starting at 25 mammal species, 24 freshwater fish species, 16 reptile species, 1,566 insect species, and 115 bird species. The major animal that inhabitat this park are the Small-eared cat, the Badger, and the Otter. All of these animals are still living and have a safe environment that is protected. There are many tourist sites to visit. They have a Fossilized Dinosaur Footprint Site which has a primitive fossil site that includes 34 footprints of pterosaurs, or flying dinosaurs. The footprints are deeply imprinted in the rocks positioned along Dongdaeman Beach. Tourists can also visit Jeodo Island and Namildae Beach. These are just a few of many tourist sites open to the public.
