The patter of the rain snapped me out of my thoughts. I looked around me, unable to identify my surroundings. I realised i was a long way from home, but where was I? I looked around one more time, the diffused grey light of a darkening sky pushed the light out of my sight. Cemetery. The rain began to bore down mercilessly, washing away my previous thoughts and replacing them with sinister anticipation. The cobbled pathways of the cemetery turned into a warren of slick stones and muddy ponds as the damp manicured grass droop under the weight of the heavy droplets. A gust of dry winds thrusted in my direction, heisting the dust off the tombstones that stood in erect, some of them cracking due to their weak structure and rotting age. For a moment, I thought my eyes were deceiving me. I caught a glimpse of something that left me restless. It was a shimmer of mist in the caustic air, quietly hissing at me. I froze and gazed at its paranormal behavior, it’s piercing sound sang a terrible lullaby. I stared right back at the misty figure, straining to listen to it against the ceaseless winds. However, it began to shuffle towards me and I feel anxiety roaming around my body as I panicked. It rose and fell, moving closer and closer. It’s hissing becomes inaudible and then the eyes that had been as white as the naked body turned to black and the mouth stretched wide in an eternal scream.I shut my eyes tightly, blocking out my surrounding. No! My eyes were confusing my reality with my imagination for sure! How come such immortality could exist? The mystical creature began to haunt my mind as I opened my eyes. Where did it go? It was just here! The winds howled harsher as a frigid breeze danced to the dull sounds of the church’s bells, the sounds of death creating a vivid melody. Ironically, it was as similar to a wedding. I walked on the muddy aisle of death, joining the black parade of mourners. The only voices that crept into my ears were their moans and sobs of grief which differs from the sobs of joy in a ecstatic wedding. Were they going to give the man away to Death just like how they give the bride to the groom? My heart began to pound as the sensation of being inspected and examined by the presence of the mysterious invisible dead. How could a place so full be so empty at the same time? Tombstones were scattered around me with their faded etching. I stood between the deceased, alive and breathing, my life stretching ahead. This graveyard is full; full of stone, moss, wilted trees and the decaying remains of bone and flesh. But it’s empty. There’s nobody here but me. I am lost. The sudden creek of the crooked tree that stood before me, almost tipping over whilst increasing my pulse rate. The eerie blur of my glasses fooled me into believing that someone was there. My skin is drenched with sweat. I could feel my own eyes throb as the piercing screaming vibrated in my ears. My heart began to thump ruthlessly. My nails dug into my palms, marking crescents on them.. My heavy and brisk breathing became faint to my ears but I could sense the oxygen leap in and out of my lungs and with every breath I took, the obnoxious smell of the freshly dead corpse in the soil began to churn my stomach. My fear has engulfed my conscience, overwhelming my body.
