Sodexo is a French food services and Facilities Management Company headquartered in France and is one of the world’s largest multinational corporations with a number of 427,000 employees that comprises of 130 nationalities in 80 counties. The history of Sodexo began back in the year 1970’s where the company was first established in France then gradually Belgium, Africa and the Middle East. The company also expanded its business to other parts of the world such as North America, South America, Japan, South Africa and Japan. Sodexo was founded by Pierre Bellon in 1966 in Marseilles, France. Sodexo began its operation in Malaysia in 1999 through the acquisition of Gardener Merchant which is a UK based catering company.
There are two main types of services provided by Sodexo, Malaysia. The first service is food service operation such as catering, executive dining, vending and meal delivery and the second service is integrated facilities management services such as cleaning, pantry, laundry and reception. Through change in regional focus Sodexo’s main goal is to grow a strong Integrated Facilities Management Business. Currently, Sodexo Malaysia has 500 employees operating in 26 sites made up of a diverse range of market segments such as Corporate Services, Education, Health Care, Energy and Resources.
