A popular (not popular in a good way) disease that smoking and tobacco cause is lung cancer and fatal lung disease. When you smoke, your lungs burn because smoke and tobacco is something that should not be put into your body. It’s your body’s way of saying, “This is not good! Get this out of me!” Also, your lungs, instead of spongy and pink, the way they’re supposed to be, are black and not very spongy.

Smokers lungs look like a charred chicken. Another common disease from tobacco is called emphysema, also known as COPD. COPD is destruction of your air spaces. Although this disease can be helped, it cannot be cured. It is the most common from ages 41-60+, but could happen at any age. A lot of people who have COPD have to be on air. Sadly, COPD is usually life- long. There is a bigger chance that smokers will die from COPD that non- smokers.

Also, smoking can cause heart disease, strokes, and many other types of cancer. Tobacco can cause all these diseases because tobacco is poison! It contains very harmful ingredients that aren’t meant for your body, such as rocket fuel and aerosol! Because of tobacco products, 1,300 people die everyday and 1 dies every 6 seconds! One of those days, it could be you, which we definitely DON’T want!!!!!!!! Another example of why you should quit smoking is because it has very bad effects. For one, smokers have bad breath, yellow teeth and smelly clothes. When non- smokers just inhale those fumes, it causes them to cough and burns there throat and healthy lungs. Smokers also have more colds, bad coughs, and it’s hard for them to be active. If they try to run or play a sport, they get tired very easily because of their tight lungs. In other words, it’s very hard to breathe. It’s kind of like having asthma.

Many smokers say that nicotine/tobacco/cigarettes are very addictive and it is unbelievably hard to quit. Although it may be very hard, there are programs to help you out.
