September 11, 2001 is one of the most tragic days in the history of the United States. Four planes were hijacked by Islamic terrorist group al-Qaeda. One plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania, one hit the pentagon, and two hit the World Trade Center in New York.
About 2,977 people died that day due to this act of terrorism. There was 184 casualties in the pentagon, 93 in Pennsylvania, and 2,753 in New York. Out of those casualties in the World Trade Center, 343 were firefighters, 23 were New York police officers, and 37 were officers of Port Authority who risked their lives to save others (CNN). The ages of the victims range from 2 to 85 years old. Although we’re told that al-Qaeda was behind this, skeptics believe that it was an inside job and former President George W. Bush had something to do with it. But, why would the president want to attack his own country and hurt his on people? He needed a reason to invade Afghanistan and Iraq. Iraq was “swimming” in oil.
And in the 1970’s, the U.S. and Saudi Arabia agreed to trade Opec oil in dollars. But in 1999, Iran changed it to euros, then Iraq followed a year later (John Chapman).
If other countries followed and switched out of the dollar, it would’ve plummet in value. The Bush family and the bin Laden family have had a close business relationship for years. In 1977, Bush and Salem bin Laden founded an oil company called Arbusto Energy in Texas (Listverse). Several of the bin Laden members also invested in the Carlyle Group.
The documentary Fahrenheit 9/11 directed by Michael Moore, started with the presidential election of 2000. Al Gore v. George W. Bush. All news stations had announced that Gore got the electoral vote from Florida. Gore was said to win the election. But Fox News came out and said Bush got Florida’s vote.
Once that happened, all the other news stations came out and said they had made a mistake and Bush won the election. That night, Bush’s cousin, John Ellis, was in charge of the decision desk at Fox. People accused him of cheating. There was several investigations indicating that Gore was the one that won the elections. But, he got away with it because his brother was the governor of Florida, the chairman of his campaign was a vote counter, and and the members of the Supreme Court were friends with his father, George H.W. Bush. It then moves on to the whereabouts of some of the members of the Bush family during the 9/11 attacks.
Early that morning, Bush Senior was at the Ritz Carlton Hotel meeting with members of the Carlyle Group, including Shafiq bin Laden, Osama bin Laden’s half-brother, although Bush had supposedly left earlier that morning. President Bush was arriving at an elementary school in Florida when he was told of the first attack on the World Trade Center, instead of leaving right away to New York, he proceeded with this photo opportunity, as Moore said. When he was told that the second tower was hit, he was in the classroom and continued to sit there in silence. He later claimed this was because he didn’t want to frighten the children. Although, he could’ve said that so no one would say anything about staying there instead of leaving right away. After the attacks, there was a lot of terror alerts. There was a story of poisoned pens that could kill you and other attacks. The American people were frightened.
And they had every right to be. The information I found while doing research and the information I got from the movie was predominantly the same. Bush was well aware that there was going to be a terrorist attack within the United States months before anything happened. The CIA first warned the White House in the Spring of that year, but no actions were taken (Chris Whipple). Then, on August 6, 2001, he received a report while he was in vacation in Texas that Osama bin Laden was planning to hijack 4 planes, but didn’t do anything about it.
He didn’t take it as a warning. He didn’t take precaution. He had cut terrorism funding form the FBI. After the attacks, all aircrafts were grounded, all flights were cancelled, all with the exception of some authorized flights. The White House authorized at least 6 private jets and almost 2 dozen commercial planes that carried 124 Saudis and 24 members of the bin Laden family out of the United States.
That was suspicious, first, because no flying was allowed, and people probably didn’t even want to travel, especially just 2 days after the attacks, and second, they flew out the bin Laden’s without question. Even if they had nothing to do with the attack, it was known that Osama bin Laden did. Usually, when a crime has been committed, they question family members to know the whereabouts of the suspect. You would think that this would be the case, especially because of how tragic this case is. But they all left unquestioned. Fahrenheit 9/11 is a product of its time. It was released in 2004, a few years after the attack, but people were still talking about it.
Even to this day, almost 17 years since it happened, people are still talking about it. Every year on September 11th, people mourn over the innocent lives that were taken due to this terrifying terrorist attack. It was a very unfortunate day in history. There was a lot of information that the public was not told or properly informed that makes it seem like they were trying to hide something. A lot of ties between different people, and no actions taken when they were given warnings.
And although none if this is proven to be a fact, there is a lot of evidence that it could be a possibility.
