was born on 1st March 2006 to Tracey Connelly. On 3rd
August Peter was found lying dead in his cot. 17-month-old Peter had died after
suffering over 50 severe injuries during an eight-month period which on
multiple occasions seen by professionals and was given the opportunity to be
given to care.
Baby P had over
60 visits by social workers, doctors, and police. Injuries to peters face and
hands were missed by a social worker after he was deliberately smeared with
chocolate to hide them. Officers were concerned that peters injuries may not
have been accidental however didn’t investigate in fact left it to the social
workers yet prosecutors decided there wasn’t enough evidence to bring up a
case. Social workers were lacking
training and poor communication, they did not engage with the parents, did not
examine peter correctly and failed to stick to correct procedures. They believed
all parents excuses. Social workers had failed to notice Steven Barker (Peter’s
stepfather) who was living with the family and abusing Peter for 9 months until
injuries caused his death.

reviews are required when a child dies or is seriously injured, abuse or
neglect have known to be taken place. Case reviews take practice to help
prevent similar incidents from happening in the future. Baby P’s death
should’ve and could’ve been prevented.
