Obesityis what doctors call it when a person has too much body fat. When someoneis obese, it can become very difficult for them to lose weight. There aremany health problems which can becaused by obesity. In recent years there have beenprogress, but obesity rates arestill high. Obesity is nevertheless a concern thatcontributes to the soaring health care costs andthe tremendous economic burden that comes along with it. Although obesity is a complex problem that have become prevalent inour society, obesity can also be preventable issues alongwith many health issues it causes. My interestsin obesity are that I am constantly seeing more and more “overweight”people within my own family.
I have noticed that some family members havebecome complacent with being overweight and obese. They indulge ineating whatever they want, not caringhow obesity is affecting this nation is also influencing theirquality of life. A large portion of my family members have beendiagnosed with some underlying health issues such as diabetes, heartdisease and high blood pressure that were brought onby obesity. Let’s not overlook childhood obesity in this country as well. (Studies)Evenchildhood obesity is at the risk of developing high blood pressure, stroke, cancer and diabetes.
There are many factors thatcontributed to childrenbeing obese. Unhealthy foods are marketed all the time. Thefood and beverage industries invest billions of dollars promoting unhealthyfoods while targeting children.
Although there are signsthat childhood obesity rates are starting todecline, childhood obesity remains a problematic concern thatcannot be dismissed.
