Budget is the approximate calculation of the income and expenditure for a set of period of time. Every year state plans a budget which is based upon the economic system and functions of the state. Budget plays a big role in the development of the state and the state has a big role in the future of people. Considering the budget, the state spends its money on various sectors. Texas and Massachusetts are two states which differ from each other in various aspects, there is a complete difference in geographic condition, population, budget, priorities and way more. Though each state is unlike in their budget, these states are similar in some aspects on how they spend money. Both of these states prioritize in education and have been spending most of its money. Education is the basic need of the child in the present context. As the population in both state is increasing, both states are focused on investing in education by providing quality education with strong schools, colleges, and universities facilities. These two states are also similar in spending their big part of the money in healthcare and services. The insurance or Medicaid or Medicare has been largely contributed. Both states have been spending on health and hospitals providing better services to the people. Spending on the education and health is the key to economic success of the state. In other hands, both these state widely differs in spending their money. One of the sectors is employment and business. Texas is spending its money on providing job opportunities to every people. It has been adding more jobs and is business-friendly environment. There is neither corporate income tax nor personal income tax so it is easier to start up the business even for the starters while Massachusetts is an expensive state and there is high-income tax, so starting a business can be tough. Another is in terms of welfare, these states differ to each other. Massachusetts is more concerned on the welfare and has been spending more money than Texas. Massachusetts believe in the social well-being of the people by providing various kind of assistance to the people. As in Texas state spending is not much for the welfare. Life is different in Massachusetts compared to Texas on the spending of money by the government. As the government has been spending less in providing job opportunities and business platforms in Massachusetts, and in the same way the cost of living is high, it is difficult for middle-class people to live there. As in Texas, the cost is low and opportunities are many, life can be better. Another case is the government has been focusing on the social well-being and spending on the welfare of the people in Massachusetts than in Texas, people have been achieving various assistance and benefits, which results in the better life.
Quality of life refers to the well-being of an individual and societies. It refers to the satisfaction of life through every aspect like health, education, employment, freedom and so on. Every people whether they vary state to state, want a quality life. In the context of Texas and Massachusetts, different factors determine the quality of life in a different way. The factors that would lead to a high quality of life are the cost of living, income, business-friendly environment, education. Cost of living plays an important role in the quality of life. The lower house prices and low cost of living help people to save money which can be used for other purposes. Income is another factor that affects life. Per capita income may be higher in Massachusetts where the income of the people is high but considering other expenses like cost of living, average income is low in this place as compared to Texas. Business is also an important factor to affect the quality of life. The cheap labor, no corporate and personal income tax leads to the business-friendly climate. People who are not able to start small business in Massachusetts can get huge success by starting it in Texas. Success is the key to happiness which ultimately forefronts to the quality of life. Living in Texas definitely leads to the quality of life. The spending of the Texas government in education, high job opportunities, and healthcare is the wish of every people especially middle-class people. These things definitely provide the platform for quality life.
Texas and Massachusetts spend its money in a different way. Their spending priorities are different from each other. The way and the proportion of spending the money on different sector may affect the quality of life of the people. Looking back at the spending by the states of Texas and Massachusetts, both have been spending more amount of money on health and education. This is a good action of both states as health and education have been a basic need of every people and are the key factors for the economic success of the state. If the spending on providing employment is more on Massachusetts, it will be easier for every level of people to live in the state. The availability of plentiful jobs encourages even middle-class people to have a better life over there. Also if people can start business over there, people can achieve lots of success which definitely lead to the happy life and enhance quality of life. In the same way, if the government spends more money on the welfare of the people in Texas, it would definitely have the positive result. As compared to Massachusetts more people are living in Texas, which indicates that every people may not achieve much of the social and public assistance and benefits provided by the state. Spending more on the welfare in Texas lead every resident get those services which definitely boosts the quality of the life.
Visually the graph looks like a pie chart. Pie charts are the simplest visual tools. There are two pie charts. Both pie charts effectively compare the budget allocations as parts of the whole. The above pie chart represents the state spending for Massachusetts for the fiscal year 2018 and the below chart represents the state spending for Texas for the fiscal year 2018. Both pie charts have been divided into various parts. Each part has different size and color which makes easier to view and distinguish. The charts have been divided into separate parts on the basis of a percentage. The whole chart has been considered as 100 percent and the calculation of each part is done and divided as percentage. Both graphs are different on how the parts have been divided on the basis of percentage. This chart provides information and ideas about how many parts of the total spending of the state has been distributed in each category.
The graphs are representing the state spending for Massachusetts and Texas for the fiscal year 2018. The graphs provide information about the part of the state’s spending on the essential factors that helps residents for having a better life. There are two graphs in the form of pie chart each for Massachusetts and Texas. The chart has been divided into various parts on the basis of percentage. In case of Massachusetts, the chart has been divided into health-care(35%), education(14%), defense (0%), welfare(11%), protection(4%), transportation(12%), general government(4%), interest(5%), pensions(10%), other spending(6%). In case of Texas, the chart has been divided into health-care(36%), education(25%), defense(1%), welfare(6%), protection(4%), transportation(8%), general government(2%), other spending(4%), interest(1%), pensions(13%). From both graphs, it has been clearly understood that both states spend most of their money in health care and secondly in education. Massachusetts leads Texas in welfare, transportation, general government, interest and other spending whereas Texas leads in education, health-care, pensions, and defense.
From these graphs, it is clear that the governments of Texas is spending 36% on health care and 25% on education. Similarly, the government of Massachusetts has been spending 35% on health care and 14% on education. Both of these states have been spending most of its money i.e. more than half of the total on education and health-care. The government of Texas spends more on education, health-care, defense, pensions, more than of Massachusetts. Massachusetts spends more on welfare, transportation, interest, and other spending than Texas. Education is very important as well as health-care is the need of every individual. These two things are the important factors in the economic success of each state. Through education and graduate degree, residents can get a good job and income. In the same way, health-care allows people to avoid high medical costs and get a good health service. The way the governments are spending much on these factors is really appreciated.
