Liverpool a lovely place which lies on the


Liverpool lies on the outskirts of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. It exists in major Western Sydney 32 Kilometers 20 mi south west of the main commercial centre of Sydney. Liverpool was the fourth town established in New South Wales. It was founded in 1810 as an agricultural centre in New South Wales by Governor Lachlan Macquarie. It lies on the top of Georges River. In 1850s, Liverpool linked with the Great Southern Railway from Sydney to Melbourne to be a major agricultural and transportation centre as Liverpool’s land was very productive. The population comes from a large variety of ethnic backgrounds. Liverpool district has many historical places such as church, park, Liverpool museum, educational centre and many commercial center. Liverpool has a humid semi tropical climate and is a few degrees warmer than Sydney, so if the maximum temperature is 27 c in the city, Liverpool’s temperature could reach as high as 33c.

All Saint Catholic Church was founded in 1840. It is one of the oldest catholic churches in Australia. It is located in the heart of the city of Liverpool.

The Liverpool Regional Museum was built in 1988 and opened in 1989. It has been the place for many pictures and artefacts relating to Liverpool. It recorded stories of Liverpool from 1790s to the 1890s and something about the lives of Liverpool’s people during this time such as agricultural, commercial development, migration and settlement.

Liverpool has many large parks including Bigge Park. It is a lovely place which lies on the east side of the city and it has a war memorial fountain and the rotary clock tower. Also, there is a historical cemetery, which is located in the Pioneer Memorial Park on the northern side of Liverpool.

Liverpool has many educational centres such as Public Primary Schools, Secondary Schools, and the Mainsbridge School caters to children with intellectual disability, the Liverpool Hospital School for children hospitalised for long periods, and Technical and Further Education Institution, which is known as a TAFE. It was established in 1961. It offers a variety of full-time, part-time, distance and online course. In 1956 a library was opened by Liverpool Council in the old council building in George Street which was established with a government grant.The first branch of Liverpool library opened at Green Valley in 1966.

Another feature of Liverpool is newspaper. Liverpool has had many newspapers from 1800s. The first one was the Liverpool Times Newspaper. It appeared in 1886,Liverpool Times Newspaper was replaced by the Liverpool Mercury. After that, these newspapers were combined with the Liverpool Herald. Liverpool now has two newspapers, The Liverpool Leader and the Liverpool Champion are published every Wednesday.

The main area of Liverpool is Macquarie Street which has many small cafes. Westfield shopping centre is the biggest shopping centre in Liverpool, which lies at the end of Macquarie Street and Liverpool Plaza, which is located between the Macquarie Street and Northumberland Street. The northern end of the city has many higher density residential apartments.

Liverpool has a multicultural nature of the population who came from a large variety of ethnic backgrounds such as Iraq, India, Vietnam, Croatia. Those people speak different languages at home.


Liverpool is one of the most multicultural regions of Sydney, Australia. It is a commercial centre of South West Sydney. It has many open spaces and natural environment such as the Georges River and other bushland area which are part of Western Sydney parklands of all the variety and facilities of a large modern multicultural city.
