Our society depends on the abilities of our leaders and how well they can do their jobs. A leader is someone that many people look to for direction, guidance, and inspiration, so it is important for our leaders to have the aptitude to make difficult decisions and to know and do what is right for the people. In today’s healthcare business world, leadership is a vital role and it also very important to have great leaders in our lives and our jobs. Working in a nursing home, as a dietary aide being a leader is not always easy for me because I have tremendous responsibilities making sure that things are getting done. As a leader, working in a nursing home, I chose to be humble, invite feedback, and I try to remain positive, and I can influence others to do well.
Introduction: What is Leadership? For me, leadership is a very important skill for everyone to have. Working in a nursing home it gives me a purpose, and a team leader for the organization. (Covey, S. 1992). Being a dietary aide, I can convince that organizational vision is not only important, but attainable and able to challenge them with goals, projects, tasks and responsibility that allow them to feel a sense of personal success. (Northouse, P. 2017).
What is Management? Organizations rely upon group efforts to achieve goals. The purpose of staffing is to control all recruitment and personnel needs of the organization. Management needs to be able to oversee and influence the behavior of the staff and achieve the company’s goals, whether that means assisting or motivating them. (Schwartz, D. 1980). For my boss Christopher Sears who is a food service director at Winchester Nursing he is also responsible for training and development. (DuBrin, A. 2008). In order for my boss to do this correctly, my boss Christopher Sears will ensure that all the other functions are operating efficiently. (Lussier, R. 2017)
How are these roles related and how are they different? According to Northhouse (2016) when my boss Christopher Sears is involved he influence us to do well and he makes sure that we meet our goals. (Northhouse, 2013, p. 14). Leadership is a path-finding management is path-following leaders and when it comes to my boss Christopher Sears he set the direction for the kitchen and as an employee I must follow his directions and accept his authority.
According to Bass, 2008, p. 654). The difference is that a good manager like my boss who is good at managing the day-to day duties and making sure that things are done correctly. (Bass, B. M. (1990). Working with my boss Christopher Sears as an employee I consider myself as a role model and as a dietary aide I can maintain a very successful leadership role and can articulate and have a vision of a compelling future as a dietary aide. current role as a dietary aide. Working at Winchester Nursing and Rehab Center for 7 months for me to succeed as a leader, I need to be motivated, and no one else can do that I accept myself. I do admit, when I have a hard time with a co-worker I need to give and show firm, and support. Working for Christopher Sears in the dietary department, he gives me confidence and knowing that I can do well with this job.
