late capitalism” characterized by the ethnicization of social conflicts and class-relations, andethnification of enmities as well as of ethnicification of workers andcommodities. * There isa national order. The appearance ofnation in history is to be explained by the sequences of socio-economic andsocio-cultural homogenization. Constituting the union, the processes ofnational unification by language, habits and customs, and common regulationsinclude the forms of implementations and thereby different forms of coercion.
The genesis of nation is rightly associated with constitutive violences latercondemned to the oblivion and suppression in order to stabilize the nationalreproduction and survival. Therefore, the existence of nation is always aconstellation of remembering and oblivion, e. g. the remembering of the heroicpast and the oblivion of the violence of the beginning. The nation isfrequently depicted as the form of voluntary association, but the realsituation is much more complicated, because the institutions of nation andnational citizenship comprise the contradictory set of impositions andvoluntariness, ascribed norms and voluntarily accepted duties andresponsibilities. Thenationalization of the societyp1 must enact biopolitics that governs the human life, that is, controls the sequences of birth and death, and orientates theprocesses of normalization. The self-definition and self-understanding of theindividual subject refers to the national order. The nation is not a neutral entity on thehistorical scene but the politico-economic bearer of the interest and frame ofcomplex relationship between collective and private interests.
The nation, orthe subjects that act in its name, must triumph against the asymmetrical powerof absolutist states, and practice egalitarianism amongst its members endorsingits democratic horizon. The nationalized subjects affirm the caesura inrelation to the past, there is no simple non-reflective continuity between thepast and contemporaneity, that is, the nation institutionalizes the traditionas the mediated experience of the past. At the same time, these subjects mustsubordinate the newly emerging minorities that feel as endangered by thenational construction and claim for the special treatment in new state exposingto the charge of non-loyaltyp2 . The tendencies imposed by the intention ofnationalization of a given territory indicate a lot of conflictsS3 such as the sharpened competition in acquiringand monopolization of the resources.
