Lael joined the franchise with a
hope to stay long as was inspired that Best East Motel being highly rated in
the industry wound be a good career path besides the manager training program.
Having been assigning the work times at the franchise and experiencing a heavy
female turnover at night she decided to carry out a research why it happened.
In the first place this was a very good work ethic because she established a
problem and was keen to develop a solution as it was in her career. In this
zeal of upholding the motels ethics she realized many employees leaving the
company and even the one she chatted with, was already planning to quit and
also tried to gather information why this happed and found that it was due to
sexual harassment of female employees at the company which are allegation she
obtained from many of the female employees. Then if the allegations were true
as per the franchise employee handbook, it is illegal and unethical and should
be reported. Then she is supposed to take action after getting evidence and
even inform the female employees of her action so that they may explain their
experiences if required in order to get the misconduct punished. This the
ethical way in the company as it will promote the image of the company to the

East Motel to report misconduct so it is clear that the company has not fully
validated the protocol in a transparent manner in which employees can report
the experiences without fear.
Secondly Lael is in dilemma because
she has never been experiencing the allegations so she can only be ready to
report that if she gets a full support from the affected employees for evidence
Rael is in dilemma that the upper management,
the managers and their subordinates lacks a trustworthy relationship.
Lael should use her critical judgement
techniques to analyze the situation well at first in order not misuse her power
or not follow the right channel of communication. Lael should first seek to
establish the work ethics of the company from her supervisors excluding the
alleged person Nikhil and after them recognizing the ethics of the company
conduct and anonymous survey with their help of which the survey will prove
that there is sexual harassment in the company.
Having acknowledged there is gross misconduct the hold the supervisors
accountable for the matter and again with the supervisor’s help hold a briefing
on sexual harassment and the effects that has caused the company as whole as
well as the work atmosphere. Then escalate the matter to the people responsible
to that and start a culture of positively recognizing and motivation them to
work more professionally in a good environment.
