INTRODUCTION:

Knowledge
management is the key factor to taste the success in every field. In this busy
world, on a daily basis, everyone is exposed to thousands of information in
which half of them are useless. Knowledge management is something that help
ourselves to manage the information we receive in our day to day basis and this
course helps to achieve this task. An organization to be successful, the main
key factor they must consider is the knowledge management. With this small
introduction about the course, now let us discuss about the hardware and its
components.

In
this paper, we will briefly discuss on the following topics,

1.
Computers
and its types.

2.
Peripherals

3.
PLC’s

4.      Mobile devices.

What
is hardware? Hardware is the combination of both input and output devices. Hardware
is like the heart and software is like the brain. The hardware functions based
on the commands given by the software. A combination of these helps us form a
usable computing system.

Computers and its types:

The
computer was invented by Charles Babbage in the year 1832. All the latest
essential ideas in the latest updated computers are to be found in Charles
analytical engine that was developed in 1832. The following are the different
types of computer,

1.
Supercomputers:
supercomputers are considered as the most powerful computers in terms of data
processing. They are very large in size and are expensive. Supercomputers are usually kept in air-conditioned rooms and they
can occupy the space of a complete building.

2.
Mainframe
computers: Mainframe computers are comparatively
small when compared with super computers but they are process and store a large
amount of data. Mainframe computers are mostly used in banks and large IT
companies which help them in accessing their data faster.

3.
Minicomputers:
Minicomputers
are used by small businesses and
firms since they process a less amount of data when compared with super and the
mainframe computers. They are probably used within some departments present
inside the organization in order to monitor small issues within the
organization.

4.      Microcomputers: Microcomputers
are the widely used computers around the world. They are compatible and can be
used for work purposes when somewhere travelling or working from home. They are
generally for entertainment purposes. They include devices such as desktops,
laptops and tablets and smartphones.

The
following is a picture that show us the hardware in the computer and its basic
components,

Peripherals:

Peripherals
are those that helps in creating an interface with the user and the computer. A
computer can function without them but peripherals makes the computers user
friendly.

A
combination of input and the output devices makes the whole of peripherals.

PLC’s:

PLC’s
are the basic block of the CPU input. They are pre-programmed to do a specific
task.  They are usually used in the
industries for automation processes. They are used for jobs like,

Capsule
filling, bottle sealing in the pharmaceutical industry and painting and
assembly units in the manufacturing industry.

Mobile devices:
Current advancement of the world has made everyone to use mobile devices. The
first mobile was discovered in the year 1973.  A person without a smart phone is not seen
anywhere in these days. A smartphone does all the work of a laptops and one can
do anything with his smartphone in this 21st century.

Networking:

Networking
is a supportive system that helps to share information among individuals.
Everything in this world is now operated by networking. Internet, LAN, WAN are
some of the common terms that we hear about networking. A LAN is a group of
computers that are connected within the same building whereas WAN is called as
wide area network which is accessible to public or generally can be defined as
a group of LAN’s.

Quantum computing:

A
quantum computer is a classical computer with a memory made up of bits and
bytes. As per the records of 2018, the quantum computers are still in the
developing stage but the future is completely dependent on quantum computing.

era of quantum computers has arrived
