In soon very wealthy. These days, you

In one sense, Gatsby’s rags-to-riches success story makes him an example of the American dream. He started his life with very little, as the son of fairly unsuccessful farmers. By the time he was a young man he had even less, having voluntarily estranged himself from his family, unable to come to terms with the lot he had been dealt in life. While on his own, he had the opportunity to reinvent himself. Due to his own ingenuity, Jimmy Gatz evolved into Jay Gatsby. His life became very different, but he was still lacking money. He began bootlegging and was soon very wealthy. These days, you may know him as the man who throws massive parties in West Egg. The murder was committed by George Willson. Just before his death Gatsby was believed to have been driving home when he hit a woman running across the rode. This woman was George Wilson’s wife. Other sources have said they saw a woman driving the vehicle at the time of the accident, but this hasn’t been proven. Gatsby had gone home after the incident. His butler said Gatsby had told him the next day not to drain the pool. He had planned to go for a swim that evening, which his butler claims was the first time he had ever swam in his own pool. One of George Wilson’s friends says that the night after his wife was hit He told him that before Myrtle died, he confronted her about another lover and told her that she could not hide her sin from the eyes of God. He claimed that the morning after the accident, the eyes of Doctor T. J. Eckleburg overwhelmed Wilson. He believes they are the eyes of God and leaps to the conclusion that whoever was driving the car that killed Myrtle must have been her lover. Wilson eventually goes to Gatsby’s house, where he found Gatsby lying on an air mattress in the pool, floating in the water. Wilson shoots Gatsby, killing him instantly, then shot himself. Little is known fors ure who was driving the car when his wife was hit, but Gatsby may not have been responsible for her death. Funeral services are pending.
