I have learned a lot of materials in your English class

I have learned a lot of materials in your English class. In your class, we read articles and discussed topics pertaining to literature and history. This allowed me to become a better critical thinker because this class requires us to reflect on readings. The topics covered have given me the opportunity to increase my knowledge in many areas.
I felt that this class was a great challenge, especially in writing! Writing has never been one of my strengths, so when it came to the essays, writing became a little trickier because I had to understand what it was I needed to write about and the style in which I need to write it in. Listening to you read the essays written by some of your past students have really helped me understand what to write or do, in this class. The essays help me understand what I lack, and so I can try and do what I need to. Listening to the essays written by some of your past students have really helped me understand what to write or do, in this class.
It was difficult for me to identify the gaps in my writing at first, but your class helped me identify one my biggest problems, which is the organization of my thoughts.. I have always struggled to put my thoughts on paper in a manner that is coherent and correct according to assignments. I can remember being told numerous times in some variation of, “organize your thoughts” or “provide more support and examples”.
When we first read Tompkins’s article on American Indians, I learned something very meaningful to me regarding word and language. The article taught me how powerful the written word and language can be. Words tell so much more than a story. Stories tell about life and the human condition, they bring up the past and people and cultures that are long gone. I learned by writing about what we learn and/or what we believe, we are learning how to express ourselves.
