I am writing this statement to respond you for the announcement of HUNGARICUM SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME 2018-2019 in different disciplines. I have done Master of Science in Mathematics from the department of Mathematics, COMSATS Institute of Information Technology Islamabad, Pakistan with CGPA 3.53 out of 4.00. During my Master studies, I did research work in the field of computational fluid dynamics and the title of my MS research dissertation is “Numerical Investigation of Flow Characteristics Past a Horizontal Channel with Lower Periodic Heating Wall”.
In this work we use Lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) as a Numerical Technique. Before this, I have completed MSc in Mathematics (16 years) from International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) Pakistan. During my studies in IIUI, I studied different courses such as Numerical Methods, Partial Differential Equation, Ordinary Differential Equations, and as a result, I developed interest in computational and applied mathematics, which led me to the COMSATS Institute of Information Technology Islamabad for a Master’s in Mathematics. It is desirable to understand the physical phenomena of fluid flow because every second physical problem demands the understanding of the flow of a certain fluid whether in the form of a gas or liquid or any other state.
The mathematics involved in the fluid flow modeling usually turns out to be nonlinear coupled partial differential equations (e.g. Navier-stokes equations, Einstein field equations, etc.).
The mathematical analysis of such models is always a challenging task for the mathematicians. In the literature, there are very few and simple equations for which the exact solutions and results about the existence and uniqueness of solutions are available. The physical problem demands the knowledge of the solution of such models so that scientists could understandthe physical phenomena. The numerical solutions of these models serve the scientists for this purpose.Being a responsible citizen, I always try my best to serve my community voluntarily. Furthermore, I have strong communication, intellectual skills and ability to work with a group working in any field of Mathematics.
I want to learn the Mathematics up to the level that can be used to identify the real-life problems. I am also intended to see myself as a loyal Mathematician for my country. I would like to apply for the PhD in the field of Applied and Computational mathematics. From literature review and also from my Master research work I came to know the wide range of the applications of Partial differential equations. I would like to gain deeper theoretical and practical knowledge in my field. Because of my Master degree in Computational mathematics, I would prefer to do my PhD in the same field due to its application in different fields.
However, it is not necessary to work on the above-mentioned topic, as it will depend on PhD supervisor’s decision. After PhD, I plan to find a job as a professor or researcher in Pakistan. I have lived in Islamabad (Capital city of Pakistan) for 6 years. There are many universities in Islamabad, so that it might be easy for me to find position there. In recent years Government of Pakistan has paid more and more attention to higher education and on research projects, so the condition for research and teaching in universities becoming more impressive. I believe my Hungarian educational background and connection in Pakistan would make me more competent to find a job as a professor in a university or institution in Pakistan.
At the end I would like to point out that I am determined to make the most out of the scholarship program. I believe that being a student in your department would not only empower my career development, but would give me the framework to utilize my full potentials. Moreover, I feel that as a PhD student at your University, I can benefit from the numerous challenging career opportunities. I am confident that I will match your expectations and I believe my peculiar background will add more diversity to your program, while my being enterprising and strongly motivated will make me take the best out of this opportunity.
