George the pigs. The pigs determined to

George Orwell. Animal Farm, ‘Harcourt Brace and Company’. 1946. Based on animals tired of the human rule.

And decide to take over a farm. The brains or the animals in charge were the pigs. The pigs determined to be better than the humans and better leaders. Slowly become just like humans in their desire for more power and money. The book in my opinion is very good and takes a real problem of the world and applies it to a fiction book. People at the beginning always stand up for something good and pure. But as their progress goes up.

Many and most of the times their ambition for power and money gets in their way and end up the opposite of what they were standing up for.     At the beginning of the book was the introduction to many and most important characters of the story. In the chapter major the pig tells the farm animals that he had a vision where all the humans were gone from the world. And that they had to rebel against the humans because of the harm that has came to animals by the hand of humans. Major presented them a song which was “Beasts of England”.

Whilst singing the song the owner of the farm ‘jones’ was alarmed by the noise, being passed out from being drunk, he then shot his gun to scare away what he thought was a fox in the barn. Jones wasn’t a really good farmer or as the book symbolizes it, a ‘good leader’. “Mr. Jones, of the Manor Farm, had locked the hen-houses for the night, but was too drunk to remember to shut the popholes. With the ring of light from his lantern dancing from side to side, he lurched across the yard, kicked off his boots at the back door, drew himself a last glass of beer from the barrel in the scullery”  (Animal farm, George Orwell, 1946).

The animals like every rebellion started out from the shadows, getting bigger and bigger until they were ready to rebel. And this is an example of how this relates or shows similarity in the real world and the book. Especially in the European Era. Leaders or kings of the european empires weren’t very good rulers or were careless and people were sick of it.     Second Chapter, Snowball, Napoleon and the rest of the pig are in charge of spreading what Major started “Animalism”. The spread of this philosophy soon came to the rebellion of all the animals in the farm and the takeover of the farm. It took place again when Jones was found drunk and didn’t feed the animals.

“Mr. Jones went into Willingdon and got so drunk at the Red Lion that he did not come back till midday on Sunday. The men had milked the cows in the early morning and then had gone out rabbiting, without bothering to feed the animals. When Mr. Jones got back he immediately went to sleep on the drawing-room sofa with the News of the World Over his face, so that when evening came, the animals were still unfed. At last they could stand it no longer”.

(George Orwell,  Animal farm,  Harcourt Brace and Company, 1946). European revolutions started a similar way, leaders not taking care of their people. After the animals started to revolt, jones got scared then they tried to take the farm back by wiping the animals and shooting their weapons.

But they weren’t successful. The author symbolized this like a leader trying to gain control back of its kingdom but failing to do so.     Throughout the middle of the book the animals successful in their revolt against the humans, they start to building their little farm community. They make a windmill, they distribute the work, and set rules. But little by little what was good started turning bad. The pigs started taking over everything. They had the dogs attack anyone who didn’t obey.

Just like humans would do. They weren’t so different from humans after all.    The book was written by the author because of the russian revolution in 1917. He thought or he believed that the Soviet Union had become a dictatorship and terrorized the people.

I think he really implemented what he was living through into the book. He did a very good job of interpreting real live situation in the book with animals and humans.
