Creating a
business plan for a new business entering any market is important for a number
of reasons. First, business plans help the owners of a business to logically
think through many of the aspects required to start and run a business
successfully. Second, business plans can be referred to at any point during the
operation of the business to ensure that the organization is functioning within
the scope and is meeting the objectives that were originally intended for it.
Thirdly, business plans are useful for potential investors to review the basic
principles of the business to decide if the business in question is something
they would be interested in investing in.

Sudd Cement
Limited is a concrete company in South Sudan that is set to enter the concrete
industry by 2020 and is predicted to dominate the South Sudanese concrete
market. Sudd will be presided over by Daniel Machar who will direct Colin
Williams and Melanie Sterzik in effectively managing day-to-day business
operations. Sudd Cement Limited will be organized according to a functional
organization structure in which work performed will be categorized by
departments. Marketing for Sudd will be carried out through the use of several
advertising strategies in addition to a website. Following a risk assessment
for Sudd Cement Limited, it was found that the number one risk that Sudd will
encounter upon start up is the ongoing political and economic unrest taking
place in Sudan. The largest strategy for mitigating the impacts of this risk
are to remain informed about the stability of the nation in order to prepare
for any potential business setbacks that may occur. Capital, operating, and
cash flow budgets have been prepared for the first fiscal year of Sudd Cement
Limited and can be found on pages 16-18.
