CRITIQUE PAPER ON INTRAMURALS 2018 Intramurals is an event that is been annually celebrated on schools. This is designed for everyone to have fun but still have a competitive edge. Yearly, every students are given a chance to showcase their talents and wit through participating in the variety of competitive and recreational sport activities. In this event, every student from their respective sections and departments have their own competitors in their different field of sports from which they aim to be announced as champions. You may encounter group sports namely, basketball, volleyball, sepak, and futsal. There also games which are played individually, and those are table tennis, badminton and board games namely, game of the generals, chess, word factory, and scrabble; games that are played with partners namely, darts but you can also include table tennis and badminton here since there doubles in that sport event.
On September 03-07, Mount Carmel School of Maria Aurora held their Intramurals. They started their program with a parade of players that shows off their enthusiasm by shouting their yells. After the parade, another highlight of the opening ceremony that made everyone eager to start the games was the presentation of yells from each department and sections, which are used to boost the eagerness of the players to win. Then the iconic lighting of torch and rising of each sections’ colorful flags. During the intramural week, the students gave their best to win their matches. The section from their respective departments that will garner the highest tabulation of all the gathered gold and silver shall be declared as the champion in the Intramurals 2018. On the last day of the said activity, a mass was held in order to give thanks to the success of the intramurals week.
Another highlight of the event was the colored fun run in which everyone including the faculty and staff have enjoyed. Intramurals is the perfect opportunity to drive student participation and contribute to health communities. It is also an opportunity to teach the students discipline and values such as integrity, and highlight their camaraderie and talent.
It also promote healthy lifestyle for the students by providing them a variety of athletic activities in which all person can participate regardless of their degree of athletic ability and provides fun. Another clear benefit of intramurals is allowing students to develop psychomotor skills and fine-tune motor skills with coordination, movement, strength, grace, and speed, and also find healthy outlets for energy. Intramurals is an opportunity for you to be able to socialize and it can also help you to build self-confidence and character, allowing them to develop self-control and positive self-image.
It can teach the students the value of teamwork. Since team skills are some of the most valuable attributes an employee can have, these experiences can help the students as they continue to their chosen fields. This said event also teaches the students the value of sportsmanship. It helps develop the ability to accept defeat which is a sign of maturity and an essential skill for success.
Loses teaches the students to strive harder, to practice and to learn from their mistakes. Intramurals also help to showcase the student’s talents to inspire others. It also teach the student to deal with the pressure and to cope with nerves or performance anxiety. However, you don’t have to treat the intramural games like the Olympics. The most important thing is that you are doing and enjoying something you actually like. As for the included colored fun run, this activity raised money for an outreach program in a selected place, not only does the students enjoy they also helped other people in need. Intramurals is the time where you get to work with your section as a team and just enjoy whether you win or lose.
Also, doing this event, your inner determination is being brought out, as well as cooperation. However, there were some issues and some competitions were heated. Although, this cannot be avoided in any competitions, you can help reduce this by learning to accept defeat if you lost, always keep a positive attitude, and strive harder next time.
