Abstract The study are meant to explore the use of educational technology atprimary school level in (Khyber Pukhtunkhwa). The main objectives of the study is to investigate the usability,importance of educational technology, availability and whether primary school teachers are utilize the educational technology tools for teachinglearning process.
For this kind of research two different questionnaires usedfor the collection of teacher and student data. After the processing of collecteddata the researchers decided that educational technology usefull for teaching& learning process at primary school level in pkp. Primary level is an important stage in the child’seducational life. If a teacher make the entire concept clear to a child then infuture the student will be able to handle the difficult things easily (Suleman, 2008). Theword technology derived from the Greek language “techne” or “technique” which means art. Educationaltechnology is the development application and evalution of system, techniques. whichimprove the process of student learning.
It is more practical, less theoreticaland fast growing modern discipline. Educational technology enabling the child to find, manage, evaluateand use information retrieved from calculator, charts, electronic dictionaryetc. By providing access to a range of information technology resources. Thechildren can also discuss his or her findings,and share them with others using presentation and authoring software.Educational technology provide opportunities for children to learn about theworld beyond their classroom and also afford opportunities for children todevelop learning skills, thinking skills, including problem-solving, andcommunication skills. Educationaltechnology is complicated, comprehensive and integrated process which involvesmany things like, people, ideas, procedures, devices and organization design toevaluate problems and it also includes other various processes like, devising,implementing, evaluating and managing solutions to those problems which involvein all aspects of human learning (AECT, 1977). LITERATURE REVIEWEducational technology is broad subject and it isimpossible to cover it as single subject.
Therefore, it is further divided intofour classes i.e. instructional technology, teaching technology, behaviouraltechnology, and instruction design or management technology (Sharma , 2006).Instructional technology is “the theory and practiceof design, development, utilization, management and evaluation of processes andresources for learning”(Seels & Richey, 1994, p.1).Teaching technology is a unification of academicsystems which is designed to enhance the effective design of teaching-learningprocess, to solve the problems which are faced during teaching and learningprocess and to improve the quality of the information which are presented(Isman, 2002). Educational activities are those activities whichare designed to bring about desirable changes in the behaviour of the students.
Therefore, behavioural technology is broader than educational technology.AccordingSmith & Ragan (2005) the management technologyas “thesystemic and reflective process of translating principles of learning andinstruction into plans for instructional materials, activities, informationresources and assessments”. Characteristics& Aims of Educational Technology:Educational technologyhas played a essential andrevolutionary role in the education system. It has determine and boost the teaching learningprocess. However, the major objectives of the educational technology ineducation are describe below.Ø Educational technology is involved inthree aspects in education e.g.
input, teaching learning process and output.Ø Educational researches have no impactson the existing educational problems because these researches have theoreticalnature. Educational technology has played a important role in solving classroomteaching and training problems practically and experimentally.Ø The main problem in teaching learningprocess is to handle individual differences in effective way. The educationaltechnology has developed the strategiesto ensure the solution of the same problem.Ø Educational technology builds upeducational theories for teaching and instruction and makes scientificfoundation to education. (Sharma & Sharma, 2006, pp.57-58).
Ø Educational technology make the class-room teaching more effective& easily modify the skill of the teacher and the learner. Role of Educational Technologies:Ø According to Sharma. & Sharma (2006,p.40), the important role of the educational technology are described as below;Ø It analyzes and evaluates the teachinglearning process.
Ø It develops and organizes suitableinstructional materials for teaching learning process.Ø It prepares teachers in the use of newteaching technology.Ø Educational technology have played avital role in equalizing educational opportunities without taking intoconsideration the social, economic and geographical position of the learners. OBJECTIVESOF THE STUDYØ toinvestigate the availability, usability and usefulness of educationaltechnology at primary level.Ø toexplore whether teachers are trained for the effective use of educational technologyat primary level. METHODOLOGYIt is a servey typeresearch in this research the researcher personally visit the each primary schoolin khyber pakhtoon khwa and distribute the questionnaire sample by own handsamong the teachers and students and provide basic instruction about the fillingof questionnaire sample. The nature of studyis descriptive, for this researcher used the statistical tools/methods tocalculate the data.
By this way we easily collect the trustfull data. Population:All the teachers and students at primarylevel in kpk are the population of this research.Sample:Only ninteen lack thirtyseven thousandsand one hundred nintyseven (1937197) boys & girls primary school studens;and one lack fourtynine thousand two hundred ninty(149290) of primary schools Male& Female teacher data needed for the completion of research.Questionnaire:Two questionnaires are design for data collectionand summarized the data in table for more calculations.
