6.4 Recommendations from the study Withrespect to the research questions posed in this study, the study recommendsthat:i. Appropriatestrategies need to be deployed to cushion the major problems that are affectingthe profitability, growth and sustainability of the Nigerian banking industryand such strategies should conform to the Nigeria environment.ii. Governmentsand other stakeholders which include policy makers, organizations such as thecentral bank of Nigeria should endeavor to proffer ways to manage the problemswhich have been affecting the various strategies of initiatives that have beenintroduced to tackling the threats to profitability, growth and sustainabilityof the Nigerian banking industry in the last years so as to be able to realizethe prospects of the Nigeria banking sector.6.5 Suggestions for further studies Itis important to provide suggestions for further studies in this regard.Although, the present study investigated the problems and prospects ofstrategies to tackling the threats to profitability, growth and sustainabilityof the Nigerian banking industry using a period of the last 5 years, there areother suggestions for further studies.
For example, the present study only usedthe staff in the banking sector as its respondents leaving out the customerswhich could have also be a major source of information to this effect becausethey are the ones using the services provided by the banks. Furtherstudies can deem it fit to use the customers of the banking sector toinvestigate the problems and prospects of strategies to tackling the threats toprofitability, growth and sustainability of the Nigerian banking industry usinga period of the last 5 years. This wouldassist to provide well standard information from both ends which could bebetter to be deployed than using a one-sided information from the staff of thebanks. In addition, the sample size of the respondents used in this study couldbe very few to represent the whole population of the staff working in thebanking sector of the Nigeria economy.
To this end, other studies can also deemit fit to extend tentacles to other staff of the banking sector and thusobtaining a perfectly elastic information which could be better than the onesobtained from the few adopted in this present study.
