• Check the cables to make sure there is no bare insulation or frayed wires to minimize the amount of live parts.First figure has no connection to the point made above. Better picture of industrial relevance may be chosen • Protect cables to prevent them from being damaged, cut, or pinched by vehicular traffic or other hazards. • Make sure the rod holder is insulated. ( what is a rod holder, can not be understood from the figure) • Do not use a bare hand or wet welding glove to replace the welding electrode.
• Always keep your hands and body dry while welding (use proper fig) • Do not stand in water or on a wet surface, work with wet hands, or wear sweaty garments. • Do not dip energized electrode holders in water. • Do not make direct contact with live parts of the welding equipment and work piece.• Ground the work or metal to be welded to a good electrical ground. Always insulate yourself from the work and ground. • Wear the proper protective equipment when performing arc welding in wet or high humidity conditions. Rubber gloves should be worn under the welding gloves.
• When welding on steel or other conductive material, use an insulating mat under the operator.• The welding transformer should be located within close proximity to allow the transformer to be turned off quickly if an accident occurs. • Turn off the welding transformer during breaks or when it is not in use.
Remove the remaining welding electrode from the electrode holder before leaving the welding area.• Do not hold or move the welding electrode holder and the welding return cable at the same time when changing your working position if the power source to the welding equipment has not been disconnected.
